Brightening Up

Jan 12th

I mentioned in my last post that my word for the year is Beauty.

I’m starting with my home. I’ve never really been into decorating, and honesty, I have no style and everything I do is probably going to be “borrowed”. I couldn’t come up with an original idea on my own when it comes to decorating and fashion if you had a gun pointed to my head. Jon hates colored walls, he’s content with plain white, and so as a compromise I’m keeping the walls white, and adding color here and there. My furniture is black, and so I’m going to add color by getting blue curtains? And my dishes are Fiesta ware and are lovely. I’m really working at more of my work printed and displayed.

I found this on A Beautiful Mess (again, geez just skip my blog totally and go to hers because she is so freaking awesome!), and loved the idea.

Isn’t that cute? LOVE it. I’m actually a few pictures short and I am going to be ordering 12 more to create 2 more rows at the bottom. A total of thirty six 4×4 Instagram prints. (then I’ll readjust my kids initials so it’s balanced) I ordered my prints at Postal Pix. PP is a free iPhone  app (I’m not sure if it’s in the android market, but I don’t think so), and all ordering is done from the app itself. It was a piece of cake! *

I ordered them on Saturday and they arrived today (Thursday)! As you can see I was pretty stoked to get to this project, so the prints arrived, I finished my day job and immediately started on this :)

1. I cut 10 strips of painting tape (this was actually not a great idea because I had Selah helping me and she kept getting them stuck together and they were getting ruined and I fired her which resulted in tears (I hired her back, don’t worry!).

2. I started building the grid line by line. Make sure your lines are straight (I used the iHandy Level app on my iPhone)

3. and kept going, and checking with the iHandy Level to make sure everything was straight.

4. Then I pulled all the tape off :)

I’m so pleased with the final look, and it only took about 45 minutes :) I have forty three 5×5 prints coming from the printing lab that I use for my business, and I can’t wait to come up with something to do with them!

Later,

Jaymi :)
